Oleg V. Riabokon

Date of birth: 17 December 1973

In January 2010 Oleg Riabokon continued his political aspirations and founded the Civil Rights Movement of Oleg Riabokon.

During September 2009 – January 2010 Mr. Riabokon was running for the President of Ukraine office.

In 1997, Oleg Riabokon founded a law firm Magisters. During his 12 year tenure as the Managing Partner Magisters grew into one of the top 100 law firms in Europe with offices in Kyiv, London, Moscow, Minsk and Astana.

Mr. Riabokon was reputed as one of the top trade lawyers internationally advising clients in more than 100 trade cases and negotiations in a number of countries including Bulgaria, Canada, the Czech Republic, Chile, the EU, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Peru, Poland, Russia, Taiwan, Thailand, Ukraine, the USA and Venezuela.

Mr. Riabokon represented Ukrainian steel mills and the Ukrainian Government in the groundbreaking case leading to the recognition by the US Department of Commerce of Ukraine as a country with a market economy country in December 2006. Oleg Riabokon served as a member of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Ukraine’s Accession to the WTO. He also worked as an adviser to the High Working Group on forming Common Economic Space (CES) between Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine. In this capacity Mr. Riabokon and his team developed three draft international agreements regulating trade relations of the CES.

At various periods of times, he served as an adviser to the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine; the Minister of Foreign Economic Relations and Trade of Ukraine; the Minister of Environmental Protection and Nuclear Safety of Ukraine; the Head of the Industrial Policy Committee (Ministry of Industry of Ukraine); the first Deputy Minister of Finance, etc.

During his carrier in private practice Mr. Riabokon practices law in Ukraine, Russian and the United States.

He served as a counsel to UEFA with regard to the final round of European Football Championship to be held in Poland and Ukraine in 2012.

Honors and Awards

In 1998 – 2009, Mr. Riabokon was consistently recognized by The International Who’s Who of Trade and Customs Lawyers, Law Business Research Directory, London, as one of the leading trade attorneys of the world, particularly for Ukraine and Russia.

2002 – he was the recipient of the Edmund S. Muskie Graduate Fellowship, funded by the US Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

2007 – Mr. Riabokon was recognized as the Best Partner of a Law Firm in the Legal Awards 2007 competition run by Yuridicheskaya Practika publishing house, Ukraine.

2007 – Oleg Riabokon was recognized as Lawyer of the Year in the “Representative of a Private Law Firm” nomination of the Ukrainian national competition “Lawyer of the Year”, run by the Union of Lawyers of Ukraine, one of the oldest national professional lawyers’ associations.

2008 – 2009, Oleg Riabokon was recognized as one of the best professional top managers in Ukraine taking top place in the legal sector, of Investgazeta’s Top 100 rating, Ukraine.

Oleg has written more than one hundred publications in the field of international relations, law and legal practice.
